History of the VWMA

The VWMA was formed by, and remains a division of, the Victorian Transport Association (VTA)

The VWMA was formed to tackle the various issues that waste contractors and transporters were facing across the state

VWMA developed the Prescribed Industrial Waste Certificate for drivers in conjunction with EPA Victoria to provide training and certification for drivers in our industry to improve standards and environmental controls. This certificate was renamed as the Reportable Priority Waste Certificate under the new Environmental Act 2017

VWMA developed a stockpile management course in response to the 2018 industrial waste fires. The course provided basic knowledge of the regulations and risk management frameworks to manage their sites in a compliant manner. VWMA secured EPA funding to provide this course free of charge to its members for six months
